Description: Recent research demonstrates that there are factors that reduce the prevalence and the impact of trauma. In this session, we’ll look at research about these factors including new information on resilience in children, youth and adults. Participants will reflect on how to use this information in their communities and for their own self-care.
This series addresses these ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for faith community nurses:
Standard 2: The FCN analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnoses, problems and issues.
Standard 8: The FCN uses resources to plan and provide clients with resources appropriate to need.
Learning Objectives: As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify factors that reduce the prevalence and impact of trauma in children and youth.
- Identify factors that can contribute to resilience and healing in adults.
- Describe ways FCNs and faith communities can apply this knowledge to their practice.
- Discuss implications for FCN practice.
