How You Can Help
Become a Donor
Faith Community Nurses in the Twin Cities donate more than 75,000 hours of professional service each year - a gift valued at $2,625,000.
Faith Community Nurses make about 100,000 home visits in the Twin Cities each year - and never charge for their services.
Our research (published in the Journal of Gerontological Nursing) found Faith Community Nursing interventions with 1,000 seniors not only saved lives, but also resulted in cost savings of $3.5 million.
Faith community nursing is a new area of practice and today, almost half of the faith community nurses practicing in the Twin Cities are working as unpaid staff, while those who are paid work at well below nursing scale. Why? Because they feel called to live out their faith by making this tangible contribution to their community. Regardless of our particular faith tradition, we are all directed to care for our neighbors. Through this mission of health and healing, faith community nurses reclaim the historic nursing role of caring for the mind, body and spirit.
How can you help support faith community nursing?
- A gift of $250 will provide a scholarship for an RN to attend the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course. (The regular price for this 40 CEU course is $550 and we try to offer scholarships to at least 1/3 of the participants.)
- A gift of $100 equals the value of one of our 3.6 CEU Continuing Education workshops. We offer 4 workshops each year and an average of 95 FCNs attend each workshop. (An RN must earn 24 CEUs every two years to maintain her license.)
- A gift of $50 will enable FCNN to continue to communicate and network with more than 400 faith community nurses throughout the greater Twin Cities, helping them maintain important connections with one another and valuable community resources.
If you are interested in supporting the Faith Community Nurse Network, please send your tax deductible gift to FCNN at 90 Emerald Street SE, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55414 or contribute now through PayPal or contact Wanda Alexander at wanda@fcnntc.org.

Our Program Partners and Sponsors
Interested in exposing your organization to faith community nurses in the Twin Cities? Consider joining with the Faith Community Nurse Network to sponsor one of our quarterly workshops.
The Faith Community Nurse Network was founded in 2004 by an interfaith group of faith community nurses and a Hennepin County Public Health Nurse. Our mission is to help faith community nurses serve people throughout the Twin Cities. We have developed a network of nearly 400 faith community nurses (FCNs) who work out of 235 Christian, Jewish and Muslim congregations. We provide them community connections, continuing education programs, and program and funding opportunities. We have also sponsored and participated in faith community nursing research.
The Faith Community Nurse Network holds four continuing education workshops each year in January, March, June, and October. Approximately 100-125 FCNs attend each workshop. The workshops run from 9:30 am -12:30pm.
Since our list serve is confidential, this is the best way to market your services to a large group of FCNs. Sponsorships fill up fast. We currently are taking reservations for 2012 workshop sponsorships. Each agency may sponsor two non-consecute workshops each year. If you would like to sponsor more than two workshops, you can be placed on a waiting list and given an additional workshop, space permitting.
Payment is due two months prior to the workshop. An invoice will be sent from FCNN.
Program Sponsors:
- As a Sponsor, you are given an 8’ table to display your information.
- We schedule only 8 Program Sponsors per workshop.
- The cost to Sponsor an event is $150 per workshop, and is due when the reservation is made. It is refundable with 6 weeks notice. An organization can sponsor more than one workshop per year.
- Your organization will be acknowledged in the FCNN annual report.
Program Partners:
- As a Program Partner, you cater the boxed lunches for the 80-100 participants.
- The cost usually runs around $900, depending upon which caterer you select. You pay the caterer directly.
- As a Program Partner, you are given an 8’ table to display information during the workshop.
- You will have the chance to address the group for 3 minutes prior to the lunch.
- Your organization will be noted on the flyer advertising the workshop, on the FCNN website and in the FCNN annual report.
Workshop Details:
- Sponsors and Program Partners can set up their table displays between 8:30 and 9:00 am. We provide coffee, fruit and rolls in the morning and many FCNs arrive early to the event. This is a good time for them to browse the table.
- There is also a break midway through the morning when FCNs browse table. Nurses will again browse tables during and after lunch. You should plan to have a presence during the entire workshop.
