Faith Community Nurses and other health professionals have had the opportunity to become Stepping On leaders at 3 workshops hosted by FCNN. Normally the cost of the course to become a leader is $650, however, with the support of a Live Well at Home Grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, FCNN is able to offer this course to the first 60 Leaders for just $50. So far, 36 new Stepping On leaders have completed the leader training workshops and many of them have begun the process of planning their first community workshops.
Due to continued interest, FCNN is planning two additional 3-day Leader Workshops September 19-21 and October 10-12 at Waite Park Church in northeast Minneapolis. If you are interested in becoming a Stepping On leader, please complete the “Leader Application” below to apply. Applications from faith community nurses are prioritized; other health professionals are welcome as space is available.
Each admitted Leader will receive a Stepping On kit including a training manual (>$100 value), a set of ankle weights ($40 value), hip protectors ($40 value), a customized display board promoting Stepping On, a cane & cane ice tip, grabber reacher and customized templates/teaching aids to make running the program easy. Additionally, Leader trainees who complete the workshop will be awarded 26 contact hours. All Leaders are required to lead 2 community workshops by June 2018.
Please contact Jessica Drecktrah, Program Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-237-4639, with questions about becoming a Stepping On leader, bringing a Stepping On workshop to your community, or if you would like more information about the program.
