Valborg Tollefsrud, RN, MSN, Faith Community Nurse

 

Valborg Tollefsrud taught nursing for 44 years as a professor at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Her career also includes 30 years in the United States Army Nurse Corps and 18 years advising nursing students studying in India. She has been a member, musician, and parish nurse for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, having served her congregation since 1966. She is an active member of the ELCA Parish Nurse Association and the South Minneapolis Cluster Churches Health Committee. Through her dedicated volunteer work as a parish nurse, Tollefsrud has been involved in projects about depression awareness and education, and pandemic influenza preparedness. Tollefsrud holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Minnesota, and she initially trained as nurse in Fairview Hospital’s School of Nursing diploma program. She took her faith community nurse training at Luther Seminary and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Tollefsrud has helped plan FCNN workshops as a member of the Education Committee for the last three years; she joined the board in 2007.
